Position Description:

The Lead Internal Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring the organization’s continued compliance with aerospace quality standards, including AS9100, AS13100, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory obligations. This position is responsible for planning, leading, executing, and reporting on internal audits across departments and facilities. The Lead Internal Auditor also partners with cross-functional teams to identify root causes, recommend corrective/preventive actions, and drive continuous improvement throughout the organization. This position will cover all Enjet Aero locations located in the Midwest.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of annual internal audit plans based on risk assessments and quality objectives.
  • Schedule, prepare, and conduct internal audits across departments and operational areas to evaluate compliance with AS9100 and internal procedures.
  • Document audit findings clearly and accurately, identifying non-conformities, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare formal, detailed audit reports and present results to leadership.
  • Collaborate with process owners to determine effective corrective actions and monitor timely implementation.
  • Track and verify closure of corrective actions and validate effectiveness through follow-up audits.
  • Support external customer audit activities by facilitating documentation, responses, and actions.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to members of the quality team.
  • Recommend enhancements to the internal audit process and support the organization’s continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of aerospace quality standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience conducting internal audits, preferably in the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of AS9100, AS13100 and relevant industry regulations.
  • Certified Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor training in AS9100 (preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software/tools.
  • Ability to travel to all Enjet Midwest. Estimated travel 50%-75%
