In the heart of The Dalles, Oregon, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge has served the Columbia River Gorge community since 1901. Job Summary:

Performs a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to facilitate the filing, storage, reporting, retrieval and distribution of patient radiology records for the medical imaging department. Works on routine assignments within defined parameters, established guidelines and precedents. Maintains the medical imaging department database using Radiology Information System (RIS). Serves as records custodian for the department.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
  • Associate's/Technical Degree in business or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Two years' relevant experience: Preferred

Essential Functions:

  • Greets customers, answers telephones, schedules appointments and examinations, enters orders, processes patient paperwork and maintains detailed records. Retrieves and delivers films/CDs/DVDs and obtains proper patient release authorization in order to make films/CDs/DVDs available for all customers. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
  • Maintains orderly and accurate records of all information and films/CDs/DVDs entering and leaving the department, ensuring consent forms are completed as necessary. Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  • Pulls, prepares and packages films, reprints, CDs and reports for distribution to physicians, surgery departments and outside facilities. Compiles information for department reports, manuals and handouts. Digitizes hard copy images (film, CD or DVD) for transmission to PACS.
  • Receives minimal instruction on assignments and works within broad established guidelines and standards, where applicable. Assists with orienting and providing on-the-job skills training to others. Guides others in the completion of tasks within clearly defined schedules as set by management.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
