Description


The Capital Projects Director will have full accountabilities for all workstreams associated with CAPEX execution. The Capital Projects Director will manage/provide oversight of the CAPEX portfolio for all Trecora businesses. The Capital Projects Director will have one or more direct reports and oversight responsibility located at three Trecora sites, Baton Rouge, Pasadena and Silsbee. 


Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, management, and supervision to execute CAPEX and Project execution teams.
  • Implement effective leading and lagging indicators and boardwalks and utilize processes to deliver results.
  • Drive continuous improvement by introducing and testing new technologies and innovative ideas.  
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities within the project front-end organization and develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents. 
  • Develop best practices and tools for project management and execution. 
  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent safety, policies, rules, and regulations. 
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
  • Direct or coordinate an organization's financial or budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, or increase efficiency.
  • Analyze operations to evaluate performance of a company or its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.


Project Management

  • May act as the Project Manager strategic high profile Capital projects. Expectation would be to complete the Capital Project safely, on time, on budget, and within scope. 
  • Develop, maintain, and administer a Capital Projects Management system and ensure capital performance improvement. 
  • Oversee project cost, schedule, and risk are consistent with internal and external benchmarks for the entire portfolio of capital projects.
  • Review the execution cost and schedule of capital projects being executed by the site Project Managers.
  • Review the presentations/Gate reviews from the site Project Managers Ensure they align with the CAPEX work Process. 
  • Create, execute, and update project work plans as needed to meet the changed needs and requirements. 
  • Identify and recommend the internal and external resources to reach the project goals and manage the day-to-day operations aspect of projects. 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required 
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience in project development and execution in senior or executive leadership level required 
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.
  • OSHA or safety-related certifications a plus.
  • Knowledge of and experience with HSE, operating, maintenance, capital projects and engineering processes and procedures, business fundamentals, and shared services role in global projects and manufacturing. 
  • Ability to achieve results that accomplish company and organization goals. 
  • Excellent people and organizational leadership acumen demonstrated through previous experience within project organizations. 
  • Ability to interface with all organizational levels within the company
