About the Role:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and preventive maintenance of all physical assets across Off The Hook restaurant locations in South East Louisiana. This role ensures that all equipment, systems, and facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health, safety, and brand standards. The ideal candidate is a self-directed, hands-on professional with broad trade skills and a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This position reports to the Director of Project Management and Facilities Maintenance and serves locations throughout Thibodaux, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and surrounding areas.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance programs for all restaurant equipment and building systems across assigned locations.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in refrigeration units, and ice machines; ensure food safety temperature compliance.
  • Perform routine maintenance on rooftop HVAC units, split systems, exhaust fans, and makeup air units including filter replacement, coil cleaning, and belt and motor inspections.
  • Perform light electrical tasks including replacing fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, switches, and troubleshooting circuit breakers and GFCI outlets within applicable code requirements.
  • Diagnose and perform both minor and complex repairs on commercial cooking equipment including fryers, grills, flat tops, ovens, steam tables, slicers, and mixers.
  • Calibrate cooking equipment temperatures and verify proper gas pressure, ignition, and burner performance.
  • Inspect and maintain hood and ansul fire suppression systems; coordinate semi-annual certification with licensed contractors.
  • Address plumbing issues including clogged drains, running toilets, leaking faucets, and floor drain maintenance; coordinate with licensed plumbers for major repairs.
  • Maintain PM logs, service records, and equipment histories; prioritize and manage work orders across multiple locations.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed, including after hours and weekends.
  • Maintain an organized, stocked maintenance vehicle and parts inventory.

Requirements for Success:

  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring diagrams, and building schematics
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, on ladders, and on rooftops
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on facilities or building maintenance experience, preferably in a restaurant or food service environment
  • Demonstrated experience with commercial refrigeration, HVAC, and light electrical systems required
  • EPA 608 Certification (Universal or Type II) preferred; willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Valid Louisiana driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
