The City of Thibodaux is accepting online application for the Fire Inspector position. Deadline to apply is Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 12:00 (noon). The purpose of this position is to inspect buildings and maintain records on buildings and hydrants. This is accomplished by visiting businesses regularly; keeping current floor plans of all public businesses; maintaining records of fire hydrant flow tests; and providing architects with information on placement of fire sprinklers and water systems. Other duties include establish good working conditions with other employees and the public; performs some supervisory tasks; holding the responsibility for preparing the budget; and completing other duties as assigned.

Requirements for this position are as follows:
Experience: Over one year up to and including three years.
Education: Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with six-months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency. Community college, vocational, business, technical or correspondence schools are likely sources. Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.
Certifications; Fire Inspector I, Fire Inspector II, 4 years of experience in fire inspection, conducting fire investigations education program, conducting fire prevention education program, and valid class E driver's license.
