What you will be doing Lead major repairs and overhauls of critical equipment, such as high-capacity high-shear mixers, and chemical transfer pumps, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules. Rebuild or refurbish complex components, such as gearbox assemblies, hydraulic actuators, or electrical control panels, using precision tools. Address equipment failures caused by abrasive materials or chemical exposure ensuring compatibility with process-specific requirements. Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using advanced diagnostic tools to identify root causes of failures. Troubleshoot process-specific issues, such as inconsistent product output, equipment misalignments, or viscosity variations in wood stain formulations, collaborating with quality control to meet product specifications. Analyze system interdependencies (e.g., pump-motor alignment, sensor feedback loops) to resolve issues in automated packaging lines. Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules for critical equipment, using predictive maintenance techniques (e.g., oil analysis, vibration trending) to reduce unplanned downtime and extend equipment lifespan. Optimize maintenance intervals based on equipment usage, wear patterns, and production demands, ensuring minimal impact on production. Maintain detailed maintenance plans in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track performance and schedule tasks. Lead continuous improvement projects that result in implementing equipment upgrades or modifications to increase throughput. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to adjust process parameters (e.g., mixer RPM, pump flow rates) to achieve consistent product quality. Apply lean maintenance principles to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve equipment reliability in alignment with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance Technicians on advanced maintenance techniques, diagnostic tool usage, and safety protocols, fostering skill development and team cohesion. Conduct hands-on training sessions on topics such as hydraulic system maintenance, vacuum system troubleshooting, or proper handling of hazardous materials. Provide performance feedback and develop individualized training plans to support junior technicians’ career progression. Liaise with external vendors and service providers for specialized repairs, such as equipment optimization or refurbishment of high-capacity packaging system (ProSys), ensuring cost-effective and timely solutions. Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate contracts for parts procurement, prioritizing chemical-compatible components (e.g., corrosion-resistant seals, solvent-resistant gaskets). Verify vendor work quality and compliance with safety and environmental standards during on-site repairs or installations. Analyze maintenance data, such as equipment failure rates, downtime logs, and wear trends, to identify recurring issues (e.g., frequent motor overloads, stator / rotor wear) and develop corrective strategies. Generate detailed reports for management, highlighting maintenance trends, cost-saving opportunities, and recommendations for capital investments in equipment upgrades. Maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, and maintenance activities in Limble, ensuring traceability and compliance with regulatory audits. QualificationsWhat we are looking for High School Diploma or GED/Trade School experience (required). 5+ years manufacturing maintenance experience (required). Experience in caulk/sealants, coatings, paints or wood stain formulation/production (preferred). Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to lead daily team meetings. Have strong mechanical skills with conveyors, high-shear mixers and pump systems. Demonstrates autonomy by independently executing projects while taking full ownership from concept through completion. OSHA 10-hour General Industry certification or equivalent (preferred). Certifications in confined space, PLC programming, predictive maintenance or hydraulic systems (preferred). LOTO, confined space and safe handling of hazardous materials (preferred). CMMS experience (Limble preferred). Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for automated equipment (preferred). Familiarity with lean maintenance, Six Sigma or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles. Must be skilled with multimeters, alignment gauges, diagnostic software. Possess the ability to read manuals, electrical schematics, pneumatic diagrams and basic blueprints. Basic electrical (wiring, proximity sensors, relays) and pneumatics.
