Latigo is seeking an in vivo Electrophysiologist to perform biophysical and pharmacological experiments using microneurography to strengthen our portfolio of novel analgesic programs.  The candidate will design, execute, and analyze in vivo electrophysiological experiments to understand how targets of interest are involved in pain biology, as well as their pharmacology.  The successful candidate will have grit, audacity, and demonstrate a willingness to learn in a team environment. The title for this role (Scientist or Senior Scientist) will be based on experience.

 

Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Design, execution, and analysis of microneurography studies to characterize the biological activities of targets and mechanism(s) of action in pain circuitry.
  • Characterization of compound pharmacology using microneurography
  • Development and implementation of novel in vivo electrophysiology protocols
  • Critical analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Preparation and presentation of research results in both oral and written formats.
  • Management of project timelines and deliverables.
  • Support of scientific decision making and pipeline advancement


Required qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree with relevant scientific experience
  • Expertise in practical electrophysiology (e.g. whole-cell patch clamp, two-electrode Xenopus oocyte voltage-clamp, microneurography, etc.)
  • Experience performing surgery in anesthetized animals



Preferred experience and skills:

  • D. in physiology, biophysics, neuroscience, pharmacology, or related disciplines.
  • Familiarity with basic coding/programming
  • Extensive knowledge of ion channel biology and electrophysiology as evidenced by an outstanding publication record.
  • Proficiency in data acquisition, documentation, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to present research results in both written and oral formats.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and intellectual curiosity.
  • Experience with designing and executing studies to advance the pipeline and deliver decision-making results in a timeline manner.
  • Team-oriented with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional colleagues in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Post-doctoral training not required for Scientist level.
