Job DetailsJob Location: Tigerville Campus - Tigerville, SC 29688Position Type: Full Time StaffEducation Level: Graduate DegreeTravel Percentage: Up to 25%POSITION SUMMARY:  The Director Sport Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer will oversee all aspects of the sports medicine program, serve as the head athletic trainer, and manage all assistant and graduate assistant athletic trainers.    RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage all assistant athletic trainers and their schedules for team practice and game coverage. Manage graduate assistants and their schedules for team practice and game coverage. Participate in the interview process for assistant athletic trainers. Responsible for seeking and interviewing candidates as interns or graduate assistants in the sports medicine area. Serves as the NGU liaison between sports medicine and contracted athletic training partner. Attendance as needed at NCAA, Regional and conference athletic meetings. Works directly with coaches and other institutional staff in obtaining information regarding student athletes’ wellbeing, and compliance with the NCAA and conference regulations. Directly responsible as the onsite coordinator for all NCAA drug tests. Educates student athletes and coaches regarding performance enhancing substances and prohibited drugs. Works directly with the athletic insurance coordinator in reporting all athletic injury claims.  Responsible for obtaining, verifying, and overseeing student athlete’s insurance coverage. Works with all coaches and trainers regarding the wellbeing of student athletes and decisions regarding athletes return to practice or play after an injury or illness. Works directly with student athletes in the prevention and care of injuries. Responsible for obtaining health physicals, physical forms and medical history forms.  Responsible for managing the sports medicine budget and ordering all supplies and equipment for sports medicine. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mobility and ability to lift equipment or other items of 50 pounds. Hearing well enough to communicate with students and co-workers. Visual ability to drive, read and use a computer. Cognitive/Emotional ability to critically think and concentrate.   WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: The position is a full-time position in Athletics.  The Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Director of Athletics.   WORK SCHEDULE: The Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer is expected to have normal office hours, attend required meetings and provide coverage for practices and games.   TRAVEL: Travel is required for athletic events, conferences and other required meetings   This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee.
