Company:Â Mercy Ridge
Location: 2525 Pot Spring Road Timonium, MD 2109
Environmental Services Manager
Exempt, Full-Time Position
At Mercy Ridge, “clean” is never just clean — it is the foundation of an exceptional resident experience. Celebrating 25 years as the only Gold LEED-certified Continuing Care Retirement Community in Maryland, Mercy Ridge is home to approximately 550 residents across three beautifully maintained Independent Living buildings and a boutique Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhood in Timonium. Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore and Mercy Health Services and managed by LCS, we are a mission-driven community where grace, dignity, and excellence guide everything we do.
We are seeking an Environmental Services Manager who is ready to lead — not just supervise. This is a hands-on, high-visibility leadership role at the center of our hospitality culture, supporting a talented team of 25+ housekeeping, laundry, and floor-care professionals who take pride in the spaces they care for every day.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Director of Environmental Services, the EVS Manager serves as the operational backbone of the department — translating our hospitality vision into daily action. This is the right moment to step into this role: Mercy Ridge is actively launching two transformational initiatives that the EVS Manager will help lead:
- Unreasonable Hospitality Housekeeping Room Service — an elevated, detail-oriented in-room experience modeled on luxury hotel standards, turning routine cleaning into a signature resident amenity.
- Daily Assisted Living Cleaning — a service-level upgrade ensuring every AL and Memory Care resident receives fresh, attentive care each day.
If you are a hospitality-minded professional who thrives on leading people, building systems, and delivering an impeccable environment for a community of seniors who deserve the very best, this role is for you.
What You Will Do
Lead the Team
- Oversee day-to-day scheduling, assignments, and workflow for housekeeping, laundry, and floor-care staff across all campus buildings and neighborhoods.
- Provide hands-on training in advanced cleaning techniques, chemical handling, equipment operation, and infection control — coaching to our Unreasonable Hospitality standard.
- Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and attendance tracking in partnership with the Director.
- Foster a team culture grounded in accountability, recognition, and genuine care for residents.
Deliver the Standard
- Conduct regular inspections of resident apartments, common areas, corridors, dining venues, ancillary spaces, and outdoor environments.
- Coordinate resident move-ins, move-outs, annual apartment deep cleans, and special project scheduling, responding to resident requests promptly and graciously.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, LEED sustainability practices, and all applicable federal, state, and local standards.
- Champion Mercy Ridge’s Green Seal 42 and LEED Gold environmental standards in all product selection, chemical use, and operational practices.
Manage the Operation
- Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies, chemicals, and equipment; coordinate monthly ordering within budgetary guidelines and sustainability goals.
- Coordinate with the Director of Facilities and Grounds on equipment repairs, capital needs, and building maintenance priorities.
- Serve as Acting Director in the Director’s absence, providing continuity of leadership for the full department.
What You Bring
- Minimum 3–5 years of housekeeping / EVS experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role in a senior living, hotel/resort, or healthcare environment.
- A genuine passion for working with seniors and delivering hospitality, not just housekeeping.
- Strong working knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and infection control procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team.
- Excellent communication skills — you keep your team informed, your director in the loop, and residents delighted.
- Comfort operating in a structured, detail-oriented environment where standards matter and inspections are routine.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus given the composition of our team.
- Familiarity with LEED operations, Green Seal standards, or sustainable cleaning practices is highly desirable.
- Proficient in computer operating systems, Microsoft Word and Excel
