Grand Valley Manufacturing is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented 1st Shift Quality Control Inspector to join our team. This position is responsible for executing quality inspection operations, as described in the manufacturing router. 

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, drawings, plans, and routers to fully understand the desired customer requirements and specifications.
  • Follow inspection procedures, methods, and certification processes. 
  • Perform a wide variety of gauging set-ups and devise methods of checking unusual parts. 
  • Perform quality inspections on a wide variety of machined metal parts of complicated form with exceptionally close tolerances, ensuring the final product meets the provided specifications. 
  • Document inspection outcomes by completing detailed reports and performance records. Report any anomalies/non-conformances.
  • Participate in non-conformance investigations and the resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Able to use common inspection tools (calipers, tape measure, micrometers, etc.).
  • Possesses knowledge of GD&T

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or GED required, education in vocational or technical school preferred.  
  • Minimum of 2-5 years in a manufacturing setting, preferably in an inspection role or related field. 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience operating inspection tools and equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro Arms, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy 
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Able to work in a team environment

Physical Demands & Working Environment

Works in a manufacturing environment and is exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. Required to wear eye, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties. May on a frequent basis squat, climb, push/pull objects, lift up to 25 lbs., and use hands/fingers for grasping and reaching.   May on an occasional basis bend at the waist; reach above the shoulder; turn or twist body; lift up to 50 lbs.; carry up to 35 lbs.; and use hands/fingers for fine manipulation. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.

Additional Notes

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday – Friday, 10-hour days Monday – Thursday. 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules. Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.
