Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting financial reporting processes. This role plays a key part in month-end close, compliance, and process improvement within the accounting function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes within a strict 2-day close timeline
  • Prepare and review journal entries & reconciliations related to all relevant account/transaction types
  • Prepare financial statements for review
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting in accordance with GAAP / relevant accounting standards
  • Analyze financial results and provide insights into variances
  • Maintain and continuously improve mappings and other key files
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Review and approve accounting transactions for accuracy and completeness
  • Ensure proper documentation and audit-trail for all financial activities
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in audit preparation and coordination (internal and external)
  • Support implementation and monitoring of financial controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and workflows
  • Assist in system implementations and upgrades as needed
  • Drive efficiency and standardization across accounting functions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Operations, HR, etc.)
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Support controller & BU Leaders with projects and reporting on ad-hoc basis
  • Mentor junior staff

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • CPA or CPA-eligible preferred (or equivalent certification)

Experience

  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in general ledger accounting and financial reporting
  • Construction, field services, installation, or project accounting experience preferred
  • Experience training staff accountants is preferred

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, some knowledge of IFRS is a plus
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and data analysis functions.
  • Experience working with various ERPs/Financial Systems software
  • Knowledge of payroll and job-costing systems is preferred.
