SUMMARY 

The primary purpose of this position is to promote the advancement of education for health professionals in an interdisciplinary, immersive clinical simulation center. The simulation center uses low, moderate, and high-fidelity equipment to ensure quality and continuity in achieving the program student learning outcomes. This position works collaboratively with faculty to efficiently and effectively implement a simulation curriculum to engage students in a safe learning environment. Creates innovative solutions to advance teaching using clinical simulation and identifies opportunities for technology improvement with curriculum integration. Operations include set-up, moulage, technical facilitation and maintenance of simulation equipment. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Participates and supports simulation experiences that focus on educational and clinical outcomes. 

  • Collaborate with clinical simulation assistant to deploy simulation-based learning within the College.  

  • Assist program leaders and faculty in identifying, developing, and implementing procedures to optimize efficient and effective delivery of simulation-based learning. 

  • Provides adequate technological support for each program. 

  • Collaborates with the Clinical Simulation Assistant in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new simulation technologies. Trains and supports staff/faculty on simulation technology.  

  • Assist faculty to ensure clinical simulation experiences meet the objectives, goals, policies, practices and actions that produce successful results, consistent with Mercy College’s overall mission, strategic plan, and institutional effectiveness plans. 

  • Assist with acquisition, upgrading, and maintenance of the clinical simulation resources, supplies, space, etc., to provide a well-equipped learning, teaching, and research environment for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholder groups. 

  • Collaborate with Bon Secours Health System and community partners to provide a learning environment that promotes professional development of health care providers as needed. 

  • Serve as a resource and consultant for faculty and assist as a resource/instructor for students and prospective students. 

  • Attend educational conferences and seminars to determine state-of-the-art teaching, learning and research initiatives for the Clinical Simulation Center and to enhance professional growth and development.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required Minimum Education: Bachelors      

Specialty/Major: Healthcare related field 

 

Preferred Education: Masters 

Specialty/Major: Healthcare related field 

 

Licensure/Certification Required: 

Registration, Certification or Licensure in respective healthcare field. 

 

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:  

  • Two years’ experience in the healthcare field. 

  • Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 

  • Demonstrates self-governance. 

  • Demonstrates the ability to present information in an organized and understandable manner. 

  • Applies knowledge and experience in initiating and supporting new ideas to improve the quality of simulation related activities. 

 

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Experience facilitating simulation. Certified in simulation.
