Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The Senior Institutional Research (IR) Analyst is responsible for coordinating fundamental support that will assist Richmond Higher Education Institution (HEI) leaders in making data informed decisions. This position is responsible for providing and analyzing institutional data in relation to institutional assessment, effectiveness, key performance indicators, and other areas (programmatic and departmental) related to institutional effectiveness. This position is also responsible for all aspects of survey research, such as the design, collection, analysis, and suggested recommendations for action.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides subject matter expertise in advanced data management and statistical analysis, including extracting and using data from systems such as student information system (SIS), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and other allied third-party technology

  • Analyzes institutional data in relation to institutional assessment and effectiveness and key performance indicators

  • Oversees all aspects of survey research to include the design, collection, analysis, and dissemination of results related to institutional assessment and effectiveness at the three Richmond HEIs

  • Supports completion of internal and external reports and surveys for the Richmond HEIs, including recurring ones from census as well as from the SIS

  • Disseminates official results in a timely manner to appropriate internal and external agencies or audiences, including preparing reports, constructing presentations, and completing survey forms, interpreting institutional statistics for a wide variety of external agencies as well as Richmond HEI administrators, faculty, staff, and students

  • Responds to ad hoc requests for data and analyses in a timely fashion

  • Creates and maintains a timeline of all recurring internal and external reports and surveys for the three Richmond HEIs

  • Contributes to the development, implementation, and management of a data warehouse, and business intelligence (BI) and visualization tools
