Senior Development Operations Engineer (Full Time)

The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium is currently seeking a Full-time Senior Development Operations Engineer to join the IT Department. This position is responsible to work as part of the Information Technology team in building and maintaining software and infrastructure at The Toledo Zoo and affiliates. This position will help improve workflows and automations for internal users and guests, designing solutions for internal and outward facing processes, and aiding the Zoo in its mission.
The Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, automation, security, integration, monitoring, and ongoing support of the Zoo’s software and technology infrastructure. This position will provide advanced technical expertise and leadership in enhancing system performance, processes and operational efficiency. The Senior DevOps Engineer collaborates with IT team members, internal departments, Zoo affiliates and external vendors to resolve complex technical issues and continue to improve the IT infrastructure. This position will be required to evaluate and research emerging DevOps tooling, cloud technologies and platform for all projects. The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for assisting with system architecture and technology decisions and the overall technology environment in support of the Zoo’s mission and strategic objectives will be.
This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and may require in excess of forty hours per scheduled workweek occasionally. Reports to the Vice President of Information Technology.Â
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields preferred OR equivalent work experience.
- Advanced understanding of databases, web servers, and object oriented programming languages.
- Advanced knowledge with Python, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, MS SQL Server, and/or PostgreSQL.
- Prior experience with Odoo, n8n, DigitalOcean, AWS, NoSQL, Redis, non-profit processes, Blackbaud platforms, and/or Metabase a plus.
- Knowledge of Agile software development practices, and desires to better their knowledge in their field.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier.
