Job Summary:

As the Histology Technologist II, you will perform routine and complex histologic techniques on tissue samples for microscopic examination and support the Pathologist in providing accurate diagnoses.

You will perform special procedures that require a complex network of steps and variables as well as all routine and repetitive tests in a high-volume anatomic pathology lab.

You will create and monitor quality assurance programs in the lab and instruct new associates or students as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates Degree in Science or Applied Science (or equivalent) and/or Bachelor’s Degree - completion of an accredited training program in Histotechnology.
    • OR
  • May consider two years histology work experience with a High School Diploma, and successful completion of an approved and/or NAACLS accredited Histotechnology program

Skills:

  • Embedding – proper orientation and block preparation for optimal sectioning
  • Microtomy – cutting high quality paraffin sections using a microtome.
  • Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining – mastery of routine staining techniques
  • Special Stains and IHC slide preparation
  • Specimen handling and management – ensure accurate labeling, tracking and integrity is maintained per accreditation and departmental requirements

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Current HT or HTL, American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
