What this role is all about:
We are looking for a Production Planner in La Crosse, WI.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, regular business hours + on-call requirements
Location: Hybrid, post-training period
The Production Planner plays a key role in ensuring smooth plant operations and on-time delivery to customers. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining production schedules, monitoring material availability, and coordinating resources to meet customer demand. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Production Planner balances production capacity, inventory levels, and customer requirements to drive efficient order fulfillment and overall operational success.
Job Duties:
- Develop and maintain daily/weekly production schedules to align with customer demand and maximize plant efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels and confirm material availability to meet order requirements.
- Adjust schedules as needed in response to changes in customer orders, material supply, or production capacity.
- Issue and maintain work orders and blend sheets, ensuring accuracy to customer specifications.
- Communicate schedules, updates, and changes to Production, Sales, and Operations teams.
- Partner with Warehouse and Purchasing teams to secure timely delivery of raw materials.
- Support inventory management by reducing excess/aging stock and maintaining safety stock levels.
- Create and maintain bills of materials, production orders, and item cards within the ERP system.
- Provide accurate reporting and documentation to support operational planning.
- Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to ensure compliance with specifications, allergen controls, and kosher requirements where applicable.
- Process inventory adjustments in accounting software.
- Stay current on projects, production workload, and manufacturing processes.
- Actively participate in production meetings, new product meetings, and other team meetings as assigned.
- Respond promptly and accurately to inquiries via email, phone, or in person.
- Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Safety Protocol:
- Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
- Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
- Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications:
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Operations Management or related field.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
Experience Required:
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a planning, inventory, and/or production environment required.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in a planning, inventory, and/or production environment is preferred.
- Experience using ERP systems preferred.
Certification/Licensure Required:
- APICS/ASCM certifications preferred or willing to obtain.
