The Arc of Ocean County is seeking an Assistant Group Home Manager to help lead a residential home in Toms River, New Jersey, serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Working alongside the Residential Program Manager, you'll help keep the home running effectively, support and develop Direct Support Professionals, and respond to the day-to-day needs of the people we serve. - Work with the Residential Program Manager to coordinate the residence's daily operations.
- Provide leadership and assist with decision-making during evenings and weekends, as well as when the Manager is unavailable.
- Supervise, coach, and encourage Direct Support Professionals while helping them deliver quality services and develop professionally.
- Assist in arranging employee schedules, covering shifts, conducting orientation, and completing required training.
- Contribute to a workplace culture built on respect, accountability, teamwork, and support.
- Support individuals as they strengthen daily living, social, and independent living abilities.
- Encourage involvement in employment, recreation, education, and community activities aligned with individual goals.
- Help carry out and track Individual Habilitation Plans (IHPs), including documenting progress toward identified outcomes.
- Take part in interdisciplinary team meetings and maintain collaboration with families, guardians, and service providers.
- Use positive behavioral supports while promoting individual choice, dignity, and independence.
- Help maintain a clean and orderly residence that meets agency and regulatory expectations.
- Monitor medical appointments, medication-related documentation, and the coordination of healthcare services.
- Check daily records, communication logs, and required electronic documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Help maintain compliance with DDD, DHS, DCF, licensing, and accreditation requirements.
- Assist with inspections, audits, investigations, and quality improvement activities.
- Assist with household budgets, purchasing, inventory, and other operational functions.
- Prepare reports and complete administrative responsibilities within required deadlines.
- Respond thoughtfully to changing circumstances and the evolving needs of participants.
- Take on additional responsibilities that help ensure the residential program operates successfully.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least two (2) years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
- Valid New Jersey driver's license with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to motivate staff while maintaining a positive, person-centered environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and adjust schedules as program needs require.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including assisting individuals with mobility and other daily support needs.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
