JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: F&B Host

Reports to: The HUB Kitchen Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Responsible for the efficient and correct service of food and/or beverage to patrons according to The HUB procedures and applicable state laws. Guests must feel welcome, comfortable and well attended to at all times.

Essential Duties:

  • Answers questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
  • Takes orders from patrons for food and beverages at the Food Truck, bowling lanes, and coffee shop.
  • Enters patrons’ orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Prepares hot or cold beverages at the coffee shop.
  • Informs customers of daily specials if applicable.
  • Explains how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Processes customer bills and collects payments from customers.
  • Communicates with customers to resolve complaints or ensure satisfaction.
  • Prepares tables for meals, including wiping down tables and ensuring condiments are stocked.
  • Sets up food stations or sets up dining areas to prepare for the next shift.
  • Stocks service areas with supplies such as coffee, condiments, and tableware.
  • Stocks serving stations or dining areas with food or supplies.
  • Fills salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
  • Cleans tables or counters after patrons have finished dining and at the end of the shift.
  • Cleans food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.
  • Performs cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, and taking out trash.
  • Assists customers with seating arrangements as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous server experience preferred.
  • Valid IHS Food Handler’s Certificate required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to responsibly handle cash transactions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Understand and comply with all Company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

  • Physical agility to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs/ladders, work in small spaces, walk, reach and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Requires occasional heavy physical work; pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to elements, such as extreme temperatures, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
