The Instructional Designer supports the development, delivery, and maintenance of training programs that enhance employee performance, compliance, and organizational effectiveness. Working under the guidance of senior instructional design staff, this role assists in translating operational, regulatory, and performance requirements into structured learning materials that are clear, engaging, and aligned with organizational standards.

The Instructional Designer contributes to training initiatives across multiple formats—including in-person, hybrid, and digital learning environments—while building expertise in adult learning methodologies and instructional technologies. This role assists in maintaining training accuracy, tracking effectiveness, and supporting administrative coordination to ensure training programs are organized, accessible, and aligned with continuous quality improvement efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the design, development, and maintenance of training programs across the organization.
  • Assists in creating training materials, job aids, presentations, and digital learning modules aligned with operational and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and department leaders to gather content and ensure training accuracy.
  • Provides support during training sessions, including co-facilitation, preparation of materials, and coordination of logistics.
  • Delivers select training sessions as assigned, adapting delivery methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Assists in conducting training needs assessments and compiling related data.
  • Maintains and updates training documentation, attendance records, and retraining requirements.
  • Supports the review and revision of training materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Tracks training completion and assists in preparing reports related to training activities.
  • Assists in scheduling sessions, coordinating enrollment, and preparing systems, equipment, and learning platforms.
  • Supports evaluation of training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and participant feedback.
  • Able to apply foundational instructional design principles to develop engaging and accessible learning content.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support workforce development initiatives.
  • Participates in continuous learning to build instructional design and facilitation expertise.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Foundational understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning concepts.
  • Ability to support the development and delivery of training programs across multiple modalities.
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage documentation, scheduling, and training records accurately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, presentation software, and basic digital learning tools.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to receive feedback and apply it constructively to improve performance.
  • Basic graphic design or visual communication skills preferred.

Required Education and Experience

  • 1-2+ years of experience in training, education, instructional support, or related field preferred.
  • Instructional design certification or degree preferred.
  • Experience supporting training initiatives in healthcare, behavioral health, social services, or similar environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and learning new programs.
  • Basic experience developing instructional materials or supporting program development.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals in recovery, behavioral health settings, or community-based programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of American Indian cultures, traditions, and community resources is preferred when relevant to the organization.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, data collection, and database management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technology, Education Psychology, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field preferred. Or”
  • Instructional design or eLearning certification or coursework in learning and development preferred.

Position Status: Full-Time

To comply with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 the essential physical, mental, and environmental requirements. Candidates must be able to successfully perform all functions of their job with minimal supervision.   

This position is subject to Native American/Alaskan Native preference.
