Position Summary
Support Staff 2 provides peer support, mentorship, and daily guidance to clients in a residential substance use treatment program. This role helps clients build healthy routines, develop coping skills, and progress through the Wellbriety program while working toward Recovery Coach certification. Responsibilities include facilitating recovery-focused groups, encouraging accountability and personal growth, collaborating with clinical and operations teams, and fostering a safe, supportive environment that promotes long-term recovery and successful community reintegration.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Build positive, professional relationships with clients through peer support and mentorship.
Encourage clients to actively participate in all aspects of treatment programming.
Assist clients in developing healthy daily routines, personal responsibility, and independent living skills.
Provide oversight and supervision of clients throughout the facility while maintaining a therapeutic environment.
Offer encouragement, accountability, and support while modeling healthy recovery behaviors.
Wellbriety Programming
- Become knowledgeable and proficient in the Wellbriety curriculum and Native American recovery principles.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one Recovery Coach sessions with assigned clients.
- Assist clients in completing Wellbriety assignments, autobiography work, and the Wellbriety Steps.
- Track client progress and communicate barriers or accomplishments to the treatment team.
- Reinforce recovery concepts and encourage continued personal growth.
Group Facilitation
- Facilitate psychoeducational, recovery-focused, and life skills groups as assigned.
- Promote participation and maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging group environment.
- Encourage healthy discussion while reinforcing recovery principles and program expectations.
- Complete required documentation for groups in accordance with agency standards.
Program Supervision
- Uphold and consistently enforce program rules, policies, and behavioral expectations on the treatment floor.
- Monitor client behavior and intervene appropriately when conflicts or behavioral concerns arise.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while fostering a supportive therapeutic community.
- Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Report significant client behaviors, safety concerns, or policy violations to leadership promptly.
Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with therapists, case managers, nursing staff, operations, and leadership.
- Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency policies.
- Contribute to a positive, professional, and recovery-focused workplace culture.
Other Duties
- Transport clients as assigned, following agency policies.
- Assist with facility operations and daily programming as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for clients and staff.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Peer Support Certification or Recover Coach Certification
- Previous work in Substance Abuse.
- Experience in job role.
- Valid Driver License.
- Experience with Wellbriety preferred.
