This position is a fully licensed clinician with the ability to train and present to staff clinical concepts and have cultural awareness. The Training Clinician will be combining skills and job responsibilities with that of an instructional designer, clinical knowledge, and cultural teachings. This position will help develop the development, delivery, and maintenance of training programs to systematically meet the needs of various positions but specifically in the clinical behavioral health field. The Training Clinician working under the guidance of project manager, this role assists in translating operational, regulatory, and performance requirements into structured learning materials that are clear, engaging, and aligned with organizational standards. The trainer will regularly assess behavioral health positions and programs to identify training needs and implement a plan to address those needs. The ideal candidate for this role will be self-motivated, creative, culturally sensitive, and be able to collaborate effectively with both leadership and staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports the design, development, and maintenance of training programs across the organization.
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking system of all training provided to staff.
  • Conduct regular assessments of the behavioral health positions and programs to identify training needs.
  • Ensure clinical positions have the appropriate ASAM training to ensure required criteria are met.
  • Conduct Biopsychosocial (BPS) Assessments and training.
  • Carry a small client case load.
  • Ensure all applicable staff are properly trained in documenting and development of Treatment Plans.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and department leaders to gather content and ensure training accuracy.
  • Provides support during training sessions, including co-facilitation, preparation of materials, and coordination of logistics.
  • Delivers select training sessions as assigned, adapting delivery methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Assists in conducting training needs assessments and compiling related data.
  • Develop and implement Case Management training ensuring compliances are being met.
  • Supports the review and revision of training materials to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational standards.
  • Tracks training completion and assist in preparing reports related to training activities.
  • Understand Medicaid requirements for documentation and facilitate training to ensure staff are meeting said requirements.
  • Supports evaluation of training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and participant feedback.
  • Apply foundational instructional design principles to develop engaging and accessible learning content.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to support workforce development initiatives.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Participates in continuous learning to build instructional design and facilitation expertise.
  • Other tasks as assigned or as needed.

Required skills/abilities:

  • Foundational understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning concepts.
  • Ability to support the development and delivery of training programs across multiple modalities.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Ability to present information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage documentation, scheduling, and training records accurately.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, presentation software, and basic digital learning tools.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to receive feedback and apply it constructively to improve performance.

Basic graphic design or visual communication skills are preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in mental health field from an accredited college or university.
  • Fully licensed holding or qualifies for an LMFT, LCSW, CMHC, or Psychologist in the State of Utah, in good standing.
  • Minimum 2 years working experience with substance abuse and/or dual diagnosis preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in training, education, instructional support, or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with the practice of Medication Assisted Therapy (MAT).
  • Expertise in the use of trauma- informed and trauma-specific treatment practices (EMDR, Exposure Therapy, TF-CT) and/or willingness to obtain such training.
  • Instructional design or eLearning certification or coursework in learning and development preferred.
  • Native American background and/or cultural familiarity, and a willingness to learn and use traditional teachings.
  • Ability to use Native healing practices as part of the client’s overall treatment plan.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs at times.
