A Brief Overview
Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, prepares, cooks and coordinates meals for patients, visitors and employees of Stormont Vail Health.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED Certification of completion in institutional cooking and safe food safety certification may be substituted for degree. Required
Experience Qualifications
- 1 year Cooking experience in areas of baking/cooking/food prep. Required
Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of general food safety procedures for holding, cooking and serving food. (Required proficiency)
- Posses skill to safety use knives. (Required proficiency)
- General knowledge of cooking techniques. (Required proficiency)
- Knowledge of diets is essential. (Required proficiency)
What you will do
- Organize daily operational duties and utilize employees in a cost effective manner.
- Check completeness of employee job assignments and tasks.
- Provide training to staff in subjects ranging from excellent customer service to safe food handling and sanitation.
- Perform all duties in the kitchen as required by staffing levels.
- Regularly inspect equipment to ensure the proper working order is maintained.
- May perform some in-service training to staff.
- May participate in new employee orientation.
- Work with staff on department specific goals in customer service, food costs and HACCP.
