A Brief Overview
Applies specialized cardiovascular radiologic knowledge and technical skills while performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and structural heart procedures. Provides imaging and scrubbing support, monitors patient hemodynamic and clinical status, and communicates changes to the multidisciplinary Cath Lab team. Performs duties during regular work hours and participates in on-call coverage.

Experience Qualifications

  • 1 year Diagnostic radiology experience desired and demonstrated acceptable knowledge level of all diagnostic radiology procedures. Preferred
  • Prior experience in an invasive cardiovascular or procedural setting (Cath Lab, IR, EP Lab). Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Technologist - ARRT Passage of ARRT(R) is required within 12 months of employment to maintain position. Required
  • Licensed Radiology Technologist (LRT) - KSBHA Must have current Kansas license within 60 days of hire, or within 60 days of obtaining ARRT registry.
  • Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - ACLS Preferred


What you will do

  • Performs imaging and scrubbing duties for cardiac catheterization procedures and peripheral arteriograms to include but not limited to: diagnostic coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and right and left heart catheterizations.
  • Assists with imaging support for structural heart and electrophysiology-related procedures as applicable to the Cath Lab.
  • Operates fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment specific to cardiac and peripheral procedures.
  • Prepares procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies to support Cath Lab workflows and emergency readiness.
  • Maintains sterile technique, including proper prepping and draping of patients.
  • Monitors patient hemodynamic and clinical status throughout procedures and promptly communicates changes to the care team.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging techniques, including positioning, angulation, coning, panning, and dose-reduction strategies to optimize image quality and minimize radiation exposure.
  • Accurately documents procedural imaging and technologist responsibilities in the medical record.
  • Participates in STEMI and emergent cardiac call rotation, responding within required timeframes.
  • Provides age-appropriate care to school-aged through gerontological patients.
  • Participates in departmental data collection, quality improvement, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to all departmental and organizational policies, including radiation safety and infection control standards.
  • Maintains clean and orderly procedure rooms and work areas.
  • Documents patient or device-related complications according to policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
