  • Compensation ranges from $28.50 to $38.00 per hour, with new hires typically starting between the minimum and midpoint of this range based on qualifications.
  • Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred qualifications including a technical certificate or associate degree in electronics technology and IPC certifications within six months of hire.
  • OKSI offers a supportive environment with paid training, benefits including fully paid medical, dental, and vision, and three weeks of vacation.

Description

Why OKSI

  • Work at the engineer's bench, not the end of a line. You'll sit with the design team, building first articles, reworking prototypes, bringing up new boards, and seeing your craftsmanship fly within months.
  • Variety every week. SMT and through-hole assembly, precision rework under magnification, military-grade cable harnesses, box builds, and hands-on test support, across seekers, guidance kits, and autonomy hardware.
  • Paid training and certification. OKSI fully funds your onsite IPC certification (J-STD-001 and IPC-7711/7721 rework within your first six months) and invests in your growth toward senior and lead technician roles as we scale.
  • See your work fielded fast. Get hands-on with hardware and watch it deployed to customers within months, not years.
  • Build next-generation defense technology. Our work protects warfighters, reduces collateral damage, and safeguards civilians.
  • A mission that matters. Our work gives warfighters a decisive edge, answers rapidly evolving adversaries, and drives down the cost of defending the nation.
  • Speed and accuracy. We move quickly, and you'll see your work through from concept to deployment, not just one slice of the pipeline. No process bottlenecks; we move with agility.
  • A flexible, healthy, supportive environment. Small teams, direct access to engineers and leadership, and a culture that expects excellence while sustaining the people who deliver it.
  • Professional growth. OKSI is expanding, which means faster-than-typical opportunities to advance your career.

What You'll Do

As an Electronics Technician (Experienced), you'll perform precision assembly, rework, and test support for advanced defense electronics in an ESD-controlled lab, primarily supporting the Electrical Engineering team with prototype builds, first articles, board bring-up, and rework, with secondary support to Production Operations during build campaigns.

  • Perform SMT and through-hole soldering, assembly, and rework of printed circuit assemblies, including fine-pitch work under magnification
  • Build engineering prototypes and first articles from schematics, assembly drawings, and engineering direction
  • Support board bring-up and debug alongside engineers, including basic troubleshooting with multimeters, power supplies, and oscilloscopes
  • Fabricate, route, and terminate wire harnesses and cable assemblies, including crimping, connector termination (D-sub, circular, RF), labeling, and continuity testing
  • Assemble electronic enclosures and integrated units from mechanical drawings and assembly instructions, including PCBA installation into chassis and final inspection
  • Support Production Operations during LRIP and rate builds: assembly, rework, test-station operation, and first-pass troubleshooting
  • Follow controlled work instructions, document completed work and as-built changes, and support redline capture and ECO implementation
  • Maintain ESD-controlled work areas, tools, and consumables; assist with calibration tracking, asset records, and hazardous-materials documentation
  • Keep a safe, organized workspace and flag process or tooling improvements

Requirements

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate, associate degree in electronics technology, or equivalent military electronics training preferred
  • 5-8 years of hands-on electronics assembly, rework, and harness experience in precision manufacturing, aerospace/defense, or an engineering lab environment
  • Demonstrated experience with SMT and through-hole soldering, assembly, and rework, including work under magnification
  • Hands-on cable and wire harness assembly experience: crimping, connector termination, routing, and tie-down using calibrated tooling
  • Experience with box builds or higher-level assemblies from drawings and work instructions
  • Proficient with hand tools, crimpers, torque tools, and soldering/rework equipment
  • Working familiarity with ESD-controlled environments and ESD-sensitive components
  • Basic electronic troubleshooting skills: reading schematics and wiring diagrams, continuity and voltage checks, identifying assembly faults
  • Fine motor dexterity, attention to detail, and clear communication with engineers, quality, and production staff
  • IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-7711/7721 (CIS level) certification required within 6 months of hire; OKSI fully funds the training and certification onsite. Candidates already certified are preferred but not required at hire.

Nice to Have

  • Current IPC certifications at hire (CIS level): J-STD-001 (ideally with Space & Military Addendum), IPC-7711/7721, IPC-A-610, and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620
  • Experience applying conformal coatings, masking, and staking/epoxy application
  • Assembly and tooling experience for military/aerospace cable assemblies (e.g., MIL-DTL-38999-class circular connectors, backshells, shield termination)
  • Military or aerospace manufacturing experience; veterans with avionics, fire-control, or electronics maintenance ratings strongly encouraged to apply
  • Experience managing lab equipment, tracking calibration status and recall, and maintaining hazardous-materials documentation
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or similar quality-system environments
  • Experience supporting engineering R&D or prototype environments in addition to production

Compensation and Benefits

  • $28.50 - $38.00 hourly. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications and the budget allocated for this role.
