Summary of Position

The Design Engineering Internship position is a hands-on learning opportunity for aspiring engineers to gain real-world experience by contributing to active engineering projects. The intern will engage in quality improvement efforts, support cost reduction initiatives, address special client requests, and participate in process optimization activities. Through mentorship, cross-functional collaboration, and exposure to advanced engineering tools and practices, the student will build technical, analytical, and communication skills while adding meaningful value to Singer. 

What You'll Do:

• Participate in real-time engineering projects focused on addressing quality issues, cost savings, and client-driven customization initiatives (“special wishes”).
• Utilize CAD tools and engineering systems to support design tasks and documentation.
• Engage in cross-departmental collaboration and supplier interaction to understand the broader product development lifecycle.
• Develop a foundational understanding of engineering processes, including requirements gathering, testing, validation, and design for service/manufacturing. Attend and contribute to regular project reviews and standing forums, providing updates and seeking feedback. 
• Track project milestones and performance metrics through bi-weekly supervisor touchpoints.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process enhancements or inefficiencies.
• Prepare and deliver a final project presentation summarizing accomplishments, findings, and lessons learned.
