Sr Engineering Technician, Materials Engineering Laboratory

Join the Materials Engineering laboratory team within the Global Product Engineering Services organization. As a Senior Engineering Technician in the Materials Engineering Laboratory, you will support experienced Engineers and Technicians by assisting with a variety of day-to-day recurring technical and quality related tasks essential to laboratory operations.  At this intermediate level, you will utilize various laboratory instruments and equipment to complete tasks accurately within established quality and safety standards.

You will report to the Materials Engineering Manager and work out of our Torrance, CA location on an in office work schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Engineers and Technicians with recurring laboratory tasks such as equipment setup and maintenance, inventory management, sample preparation, and materials testing following defined procedures in assigned technical areas including metallography, mechanical testing, and solution & fluid analysis
  • Perform assigned analysis tasks to deliver accurate and reliable results under moderate supervision supporting both manufacturing and engineering objectives. 
  • Participate or lead continuous improvement initiatives to maintain compliance with Nadcap AC7101 and AS9100 standards in all laboratory quality and technical operations, including root cause and corrective action processes
  • Maintain a high level of vigilance to ensure safety and compliance within OSHA-regulated laboratory environments
  • Work safely in OSHA-regulated laboratory environments, including performing some physical tasks such as lifting heavy objects
