Role SummaryÂ
The Personal Care Aide provides direct assistance to residents with activities of daily livingÂ
while promoting independence, dignity, and overall well-being. Working as a member ofÂ
the Personal Care Home team, this role supports residents through compassionate care,Â
medication assistance, nutrition support, and maintaining a safe, comfortable livingÂ
environment.Â

ResponsibilitiesÂ
Essential Functions:Â
• Compliance with rules and regulations for all federal, state and local government isÂ
a requirement of employment. Â
• Assist residents with ADL's (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring). Â
• Assist with Medication Administration. Â
• Assist in serving meals, assuring adequate nutrition and hydration for residents. Â
• Makes rounds, anticipates residents needs, and responds to call bells in a timelyÂ
manner. Â
• Reports to supervisor pertinent information including any changes observed inÂ
condition and behavior of resident. Â
• Assist in maintaining safe and clean environment. Â
• Complete required documentation, training and education to maintainÂ
certifications. Â
Â
Other Duties:Â
• Completes annual training of 12 hours, Department of Public Welfare MedicationÂ
Course, and pass written test within 90 days of hire. Â
• Participate in performance improvement and activities. Â
• Keeps informed of fire safety and disaster programs. Â
• Attends staff meetings, minimum of 6 per year. Â
• A staff person who has successfully completed a Department-approvedÂ
medications administration course that includes the passing of the Department'sÂ
performance-based competency test may administer oral; topical; eye, nose andÂ
ear drop prescription medications and epinephrine injections for insect bites orÂ
other allergies. Â
• Other duties as assigned. Â

EducationÂ
• High School Diploma or GED required. Â
• Must be at least 18 years of age. Â

ExperienceÂ
• Previous Personal Care Aide or direct care experience preferred but not required. Â
• Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal communication. Â
Â
Licenses & CertificationsÂ
• Medication Administration Certification (maintained upon hire). Â
• CPR Certification. Â
• First Aid Certification. Â
• Department-approved Medication Administration Course. Â
• Department-approved Diabetes Education for blood glucose testing. Â
• Successful completion of Department-approved Direct Care Training andÂ
competency testing. Â

CompensationÂ
Compensation is based on experience and applicable organizational pay practices.Â

Additional NotesÂ
• Provides direct care to residents over the age of 18, with the majority of careÂ
provided to elderly residents. Â
• Must successfully complete all required state-approved training and competencyÂ
requirements. Â
• Initial training includes safe management techniques, ADLs and IADLs, personalÂ
hygiene, dementia care, infection control, medication administration, nutrition,Â
gerontology, safety management, universal precautions, mobility assistance, andÂ
resident support planning. Â
• Frequent exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, and otherÂ
healthcare-related hazards. Â
• Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and assist residentsÂ
throughout the workday. Â
• May occasionally be required to lift or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds andÂ
assist with moving over 100 pounds. Â
• Must maintain all required certifications and complete annual continuingÂ
education. Â
• Must comply with all federal, state, and local regulations governing Personal CareÂ
Homes. Â
• Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs
