What will your job look like?
The Fleet Maintenance Technician will perform all vehicle maintenance needs to satisfy compliance with vehicle warranties and assist with maintaining company or client fleet as required. The Fleet Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for assisting with facility maintenance and repairs as needed.

What you’ll do:
Responsible for maintenance, electrical service, advanced diagnosing, & repair of MTM Transit service vehicles, City of Tracy “Tracer” Owned vehicles
Responsible for general maintenance and repairs of MTM Transit facilities and grounds
Areas of repair to include but not limited to automotive vehicle, light duty truck, heavy duty transit bus powertrains, undercarriage/ chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, and vehicle accessories and equipment drivability and diagnosis
Perform on the road repairs (Service Calls) as needed
Ensure accuracy when completing electronic work orders
Ensure appropriate communication of repairs and parts
Assist in maintaining shop and facility to include servicing vehicle lifts, pumps, and like equipment as needed
Perform additional duties as assigned or required
Regular attendance is required
What you’ll need:
Experience, Education & Certifications:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Must be 21 years of age or older
Must possess a valid driver’s license and obtain a CDL license within 90 days from the date of hire
2+ years of heavy-duty truck or automotive mechanical experience required
Experience using hand and power tools, machinery, sophisticated test and diagnostic equipment related to automotive repair
Provide own tools to include some diagnostic and specialty tools
Be drug free and subject to Random Drug and Alcohol Testing as required
May be required to drive a company or rental vehicle (failure to pass an annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background screen will result in termination of employment)
Must pass criminal background check investigation & Motor Vehicle record check
No more than 6 points on driving record within the last 4 years
No misdemeanor convictions
No DWI/DUI convictions
No failure to appear charges
Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
Valid authorization to work in the United States
​Skills:
Advanced computer skills to ensure electronic repair work orders are completed correctly
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Solid organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details
Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behavior related to such
Ability to obtain any additional required ASE certification as needed
Willing to adhere to company policies, procedures, Processes, and regulations
Regularly required to work while sitting, standing, walking, and use hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment
Ability to do simple grasping and fine manipulations
Ability to work in a seated position, climb or balance
Requires close visual acuity when operating tools, diagnostic equipment, and computers
Ability to lift 75 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, push, pull, and reach above their head
Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases
Ability to identify/detect fumes
Must be able to communicate with others and comprehend instructions
May require sitting in front of, and operating, a computer for extended periods
Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers
Must be able to move around an office environment
May work indoors or outdoors
Exposure to hazardous situations, conditions and equipment that results in cuts, bruises or minor burns
Work inside enclosed vehicles or cramped work spaces underneath vehicles
Regularly wear protective gear, such as goggles, safety glasses, earplugs, or gloves
Exposure to contaminants such as antifreeze and chemical degreasers on a daily basis
Exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable on a daily basis
Sometimes exposed to inadequate lighting conditions
Will sometimes work in cold or hot temperatures
May be subject to adverse weather conditions during times of travel
Ability to work flexible hours as required

Automotive courses from automotive institute preferred
Knowledge of diesel engine mechanics preferred

Pay Range: $32 - $40 per hour depending on experience
