Main responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist with daily activities of the tractor trailer repair and maintenance operation to ensure proper performance and safety of all company vehicles. To comply with all Federal, State and local rules and regulations.
  • Organize shop workflow from the time an asset enters the shop until the asset exits. 
  • Assign work items to the appropriate mechanics and monitor to ensure timely completion. 
  • Monitor tire shop to ensure proper inventory and coordinate tire work with vendor. Ensure compliance with corporate tire requirements. 
  • Monitor MOBI for OOS DVIR’s submitted and take appropriate actions to resolve.  Reprioritize assignments as necessary to meet business needs. 
  • Ensure that safety, sanitation policies and hazardous waste disposal and storage procedures are maintained. 
  • Maintain the “5S” program. 
  • Perform repairs on tractors and trailers as needed. 
  • Ensure work orders have been completed properly.  
  • Monitor equipment repairs through frequent spot checks to ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA and Company guidelines. 
  • Maintain frequent communications with dispatch team members regarding equipment to ensure needs are met. 
  • Ensures the most economical and efficient use of equipment and personnel to accomplish assigned work. 
  • Performs miscellaneous functions as needed. 

This role is located at Tracy, CA .

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

  • Provide additional support regarding preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as needed. 
  • Able to read complex schematics associated with refrigeration equipment. 
  • Identify warrantable repairs and document as needed. 
  • Determines proper part numbers by consulting service and parts manuals. 
  • Operates appropriate powered industrial equipment when necessary. 
  • Understands safety takes precedence over operating productivity. 
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work area and environment. Including but not limited to cleaning shop equipment, floors, and fluid containment areas. 
  • Complies with DOT / OHSA/EAP regulations as it pertains to their area of responsibility and ensures CWP/Shaws is in compliance with pertinent regulations. 
  • Knowledge in truck, trailer, and reefer industry- preferred  
  • Graduate of post-secondary automotive/truck/HVAC technology program.  
  • Valid driver's license required (CDL a plus) 
  • Possesses or able to obtain 608/609 Refrigeration Technician Certification. 
  • Ability to obtain ASE certification in heavy truck. 
  • Good Communication (written and verbal)  
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems including Windows and Microsoft is required, and TMT (Maintenance Software) helpful. 
  • Diagnostic skills preferred (Thermo King, Carrier, Bendix -ABS, Volvo, Cummins and Allison) 
  • Ability to work with supervisor and other technicians to coordinate and prioritize work in the shop.  
  • Assist and instruct other technicians in proper technique and problem solving.

Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range.
