We are looking for a Welder/Fabricator to help support that mission through quality workmanship, safety, teamwork, and attention to detail.  Position Summary  The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for safely cutting, fitting, tacking, welding, and fabricating components used in the production of electric generators within the Generator Manufacturing Division. This position works from blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions to produce quality components and assemblies that meet established standards.  The Welder/Fabricator must demonstrate strong technical knowledge of welding and fabrication processes, maintain a safe and organized work environment, and work effectively as part of a production team.  Work Area Notice: Due to electromagnetic fields associated with equipment used in this work area, individuals with pacemakers or other implanted electronic medical devices may be restricted from entering or working in this particular area.  Essential Duties & Responsibilities  Safely cut, fit, position, tack, and weld metal components and assemblies according to blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.  Perform welding and fabrication using various processes, including MIG, TIG/Heli-Arc, oxy-acetylene, and soldering as required.  Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, weld symbols, measurements, and technical specifications to complete work accurately.  Select appropriate welding methods, materials, settings, and techniques based on the type and thickness of material being fabricated.  Fabricate components and assemblies using steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, and other metals as required.  Operate welding machines, cutting equipment, grinders, saws, and other fabrication tools and equipment safely and effectively.  Use torches and other equipment to cut, heat, shape, straighten, and modify metal components.  Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for proper fit, alignment, dimensions, appearance, and quality.  Monitor welding equipment for proper operation, settings, and temperature and report equipment issues as needed.  Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, safe, and functional condition.  Follow established welding procedures, quality standards, safety requirements, and applicable industry standards.  Maintain proper ventilation and monitor the work area for welding fumes, gases, sparks, and other potential hazards.  Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, hearing protection, and safety footwear.  Identify and report safety hazards, equipment problems, material issues, or quality concerns to leadership.  Work collaboratively with other Welders, Fabricators, Machine Operators, Production, Quality, Engineering, and other departments as needed.  Assist with material preparation, layout, grinding, finishing, and other fabrication activities.  Maintain accurate work and production documentation as required.  Maintain good housekeeping and a clean, organized work area.  Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, efficiency, and production.  Perform other duties as assigned.  Why Join Central Power?  At Central Power Systems & Services, we believe our employees are our greatest asset. We offer:  Competitive Pay  Medical, Dental, Vision & Life Insurance  401(k) with Company Match  Paid Time Off  Paid Holidays  Training & Professional Development  Career Advancement Opportunities  Employee Referral Program  Qualifications  Required  Completion of a bona fide welding/fabrication apprenticeship; or  Five years of previous welding/fabrication experience; or  A combination of previous work experience and formal training equivalent to a bona fide apprenticeship program.  Knowledge and experience in the construction, fabrication, or manufacturing industries.  Demonstrated skills in metal fabrication and straightening.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.  Ability to work effectively in a team environment.  Ability to follow established safety rules, procedures, and quality standards.  Ability to work respectfully and professionally with coworkers and leadership.  Ability and willingness to work assigned schedules, change shifts, work more than eight hours per day, and work overtime as required while maintaining reliable attendance.  Preferred  Proficiency in multiple welding processes, including:  MIG  TIG/Heli-Arc  Oxy-Acetylene  Soldering  Experience working with steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, or other industrial metals.  Experience reading engineering drawings and weld symbols.  Previous experience in heavy manufacturing, generator manufacturing, or industrial fabrication.  Welding certifications or formal welding training.  Experience operating industrial cutting and fabrication equipment.  WORK CONDITIONS  Physical Demands/Work Environment:  This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs. and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels. Employees may be assigned other tasks as needed.  This position works in an industrial manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to welding fumes, sparks, heat, smoke, dust, industrial noise, moving equipment, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
