Summary:Â
Munson Healthcare is seeking a committed and compassionate Hospice and Palliative Medicine APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our expanding palliative care team in Traverse City, Michigan. This is an exceptional opportunity for an advanced practice provider with a strong work ethic and dedication to clinical excellence in inpatient palliative medicine. The ideal candidate will join a team of experienced, collaborative, and proactive healthcare providers, clinicians, and support staff dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to the patients and families living with complex, serious illness.Â
Position Duties/Highlights Include:Â
- Full-time positionÂ
- Monday – Friday scheduleÂ
- 36 hours of direct patient care per weekÂ
- Provide expert management of complex symptoms in patients with serious, life-threatening, and life-limiting illnesses, including pain, dyspnea, nausea, anxiety, and depressionÂ
- Deliver meticulous, evidence-based symptom control with attention to patient comfort and quality of lifeÂ
- Engage in clear, compassionate, and effective communication with patients and families regarding serious illness, prognosis, goals of care, and treatment preferencesÂ
- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to support holistic patient care, including psychosocial and emotional needsÂ
- Coordinate complex care across healthcare settings, ensuring continuity and alignment with patient goalsÂ
Standard Qualifications:Â
Education / Training:Â
- Master’s Degree in Nursing OR Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant StudiesÂ
Certification, Licensure, Registration:Â
- State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license requiredÂ
- Active DEA registration required, with the ability to prescribe controlled substances in accordance with federal and state regulationsÂ
Core Competencies:Â
- Strong fund of knowledge in managing complex symptoms associated with serious illnessÂ
- Foundational expertise in the management of pain, shortness of breath, nausea, and mood-related symptoms including anxiety and depressionÂ
- Demonstrated skill in serious illness communication with patients and familiesÂ
- Ability to coordinate complex, multidisciplinary care within healthcare systemsÂ
