Great Lakes Stainless is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined CNC Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with machinery, pays attention to detail, and wants to develop valuable manufacturing skills.
What You'll Do
- Set up and safely operate CNC equipment to cut metal sheet and raw materials.
- Select and load the correct material for each job.
- Read blueprints, prints, travelers, and production schedules.
- Use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify materials and dimensions.
- Maintain accurate job paperwork, inventory records, and E2 timekeeping.
- Perform routine machine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Monitor tooling and supplies and communicate needs to your supervisor.
- Help unload and organize incoming materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all safety and quality procedures.
More Than CNC
CNC cutting needs vary with production, so this position may also assist with assembly, packaging, material handling, pickup and delivery, and other shop activities. This provides an opportunity to learn multiple areas of manufacturing.

- Willing to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
0–2 years of CNC, manufacturing, machining, or fabrication experience is preferred, but entry-level candidates are welcome. Training may be provided. A valid driver's license is preferred.
Physical Requirements
This is an active manufacturing position requiring standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in tight areas. Candidates should be comfortable working around noise, dust, varying temperatures, and machinery and be able to lift and maneuver materials weighing approximately 50–90 pounds.
