Engineering Manager
We are currently supporting one of our clients, a fast-growingCanadian HealthTech company, in the search for ahands-on Engineering Managerto lead their engineering team.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer who enjoysboth building products and leading people.
You won't be stepping away from the code: this position is approximately50% hands-on engineering and 50% team leadership & management.
What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of the engineering function, working closely with the CEO and wider business to:
Write, review and shipproduction code
Shape technical architecture and engineering decisions
Lead, coach and develop the software engineering team
Own sprint execution, agile delivery and roadmap planning
Maintain high standards aroundDevOps, CI/CD, reliability, privacy and security
Work closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success and other stakeholders
Support hiring and development of the engineering team
Translate technical decisions into clear business outcomes
Technology environment
Experience with the following is highly relevant: Go / Golang · React · PostgreSQL · AWS
Experience with this exact stack is an asset rather than an absolute requirement; we're primarily looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals who remains genuinelyhands-on with modern web applications.
We're looking for someone who has
5+ years of professional software engineering experience
Recent hands-on experience writing production code
Experience with software architecture and technical decision-making
Leadership experience as anEngineering Manager, Tech Lead or Team Lead
Experience coaching and mentoring engineers
Strong understanding of agile product delivery
Experience in astartup or fast-moving technology environment
Excellent communication skills inEnglish
The ability to work autonomously and take ownership quickly
First-time Engineering Managers with strong technical leadership experience are also encouraged to apply.
The opportunity
FullRemote
⏰40 hours/week, covering Halifax / Atlantic time business hours
Start:August 31, 2026
Contract:Full-time fixed term, approximately12–14 months(parental leave coverage)
️Vacation:20 days, prorated in the first year
