The Project Controls, Principal is responsible for overseeing comprehensive project scheduling activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, timelines, and resource allocations. Pivotal in facilitating efficient project execution and fostering strategic decision-making within our organization. Help develop and train project scheduling techniques and procedures and personnel for M.C. Dean.


Responsibilities

  • Advises on and leads the development and refinement of project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to ensure comprehensive alignment with project scope and deliverables.
  • Strategizes the coordination and establishment of work areas to optimize project workflow and efficiency, integrating them seamlessly into project plans.
  • Mentors teams on validating quantity take-offs for accuracy and reliability in project estimates, providing expert guidance.
  • Transforms project documents by reviewing means, methods, and compliance with technical and contractual requirements, minimizing risks and enhancing project clarity.
  • Spearheads the input and maintenance of pending and approved change orders in project schedules, ensuring smooth integration without adverse impacts on timelines.
  • Orchestrates the timely incorporation of Addenda changes and completeness of quote matrices, reflecting updated project requirements and optimizing resource utilization.
  • Advises on bid items, numbers, and time estimates to support accurate project scheduling and resource allocation decisions, leveraging advanced project management expertise.
  • Mentors and resolves ambiguous items in contract documents, minimizing risks and ensuring clarity for effective project execution.
  • Strategizes the resource loading of project schedules and integrates resource-loaded activities into the master schedule, optimizing efficiency and resource management.
  • Transforms project forecasting and tracks resource demands including materials, equipment, labor, and staff hours, ensuring proactive management of project resources.
  • Spearheads the creation and maintenance of logical relationships within project schedules, defining appropriate predecessors and successors for all activities.
  • Advises on the production of baseline vs. actual schedule reports and analyzes schedule performance metrics such as costs and earned value, providing actionable insights.

Qualifications

Required:
  • 12+ years of experience with a High School Diploma / GED OR 10+ years of experience with an Associate's Degree OR 7+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree OR 5+ years of experience with a Master's degree
  • Preferred but not required: Project Management Software (PM Online) – In-house Software. AS400 (internal) CMMS software Primavera P6 software
Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of finance systems as it relates to project budgets and cost codes
  • Understanding of earned value analysis as it relates to project management
  • Exposure to Database Systems
  • PMI certification in project management (PMP) and/or project scheduling (PSP)
Abilities:
  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
