Who You Are

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Cosmetic Formulation Chemist specializing in skincare and haircare product development. The role is highly hands-on, with approximately 80% of time spent on laboratory bench work, developing, testing, and optimizing formulations. The successful candidate will manage multiple concurrent development initiatives and must be capable of progressing 3–5 formulations or active projects per week while maintaining high standards of quality, innovation, and regulatory alignment.

This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, particularly sales, regulatory, quality, and operations, to translate product briefs into commercially viable formulations from concept through commercialization.

What You'll Do

Product Development:● Lead the formulation and development of innovative cosmetic products, including skincare, haircare from concept to commercialization.● Operate directly on the laboratory bench to create, test, and refine formulations, dedicating the majority of time to hands-on development work.● Translate sales and customer briefs into actionable formulation strategies, ensuring that product performance, aesthetics, and stability meet project objectives.● Simultaneously manage 3–5 active formulation projects per week, advancing prototypes through iterative development and evaluation.● Develop scalable formulations suitable for contract manufacturing production environments.● Conduct prototype development, troubleshooting, and optimization to achieve targeted product performance, texture, stability, and cost parameters.

Team Leadership:● Assign and prioritize tasks, ensuring timely delivery of projects while maintaining high standards of quality and innovation.● Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.

Research and Innovation:● Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and raw materials in the cosmetic industry.● Develop new product concepts, improve existing formulations, and explore novel ingredients to create market-leading products.

What You Bring

● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).● 5+ years of experience in cosmetic formulation, including 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.● In-depth knowledge of cosmetic ingredients, formulation techniques, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EU, etc.).● Proven track record of successfully developing and launching cosmetic products.● Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
