What will you be doing?

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of scholars while boarding, riding, and exiting the bus.
  • Follow all traffic laws, school policies, and safety procedures when operating the bus.
  • Provide assistance and first response for minor injuries or emergencies that occur on the bus.
  • Maintain order and a positive environment among scholars during trips.
  • Perform daily bus inspections and monitor vehicle condition, including tires, brakes, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment.
  • Report any bus malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to the Senior Director of Operations.
  • Coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedules to ensure scholars arrive at school and home on time.
  • Support school field trips by transporting scholars safely and reviewing trip rosters as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, incident reports, and trip logs.
  • Communicate with families, school staff, and administration regarding transportation issues or student safety concerns.
  • Travel between campuses as needed to provide transportation coverage and support school operations.
  • Accurately clock in and out for assigned shifts, and arrange approved coverage for any missed shifts.

What do we require from you?

  • Clean driving record (Certified MVC Abstract)
  • CDL license with “S” (School Bus) & “P” (Passenger) endorsements
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must provide a valid NJ DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
  • Completion of Training Program Required for School Bus Drivers and School Bus Aides
  • Completion of Training Program Required for School Bus Drivers and School Bus Aides Relative to Students with Special Needs
  • 2 years of school bus driving experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation to travel between locations required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods while driving
