Job DetailsJob Location: TRINITY, AL 35673The Barcode Tag Clerk is responsible for efficiently operating the barcoding computer system and providing crucial administrative support. Duties include processing, generating, and forwarding production and inventory control paperwork. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conducts the weighing of all coils in meticulous preparation for shipment. Ensures traceability and accurate administrative documentation of all coils. Executes all designated administrative functions with precision and efficiency. Attaches tags to completed lifts with attention to detail. Executes the closure of tasks upon successful verification of completion. Assists in the packing of steel as time permits, maintaining high standards of efficiency. Adheres strictly to all safety regulations for the protection of personnel and facility integrity as stipulated in the Plant Employee's Manual. Maintains attendance in accordance with the Attendance Policy outlined in the Plant Employee Manual. Undertakes any additional duties as assigned with professionalism and dedication. Other duties as assigned.   EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION High school education or GED required.  Team member must have the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.  Must be able to also meet the physical requirements of the job including the ability to lift 50 pounds and work on your feet on a concrete floor for the entire shift.  Team member must also be able to effectively communicate with others and work well in a team environment.   PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:  Employees are standing/walking 100% of the time; lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed; reading charts, tags, and written procedures; printing or writing legibly to complete all required paperwork.   EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS:  This includes operating computers for data entry and documentation, using calculators for precise calculations, and employing ID/OD calculators to determine coil dimensions. Additionally, they work with weighing scales for accurate measurements, tagging equipment for labeling finished lifts, and packing materials to assist in steel packing. They also adhere to safety protocols by utilizing appropriate safety equipment. Overall, these tools enable them to fulfill their responsibilities efficiently and contribute to the smooth operation of the tasks assigned to them.   WORKING CONDITIONS:   This work site is in the plant.  The plant is on one level, accessible directly from the parking lot.  There are stairs in the rail pit and up to the slitter platforms.  There are short ladders on the banding lines to climb from the floor to the conveyor.  There are seasonal variations in temperatures from 60 to 95+ degrees; some exposure to diesel fumes as trucks move through the plant; noise level varies depending on number of machines in operation.  Potential hazards include strains, cuts, and crush injuries.   SUPERVISION AND CO-WORKERS/ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:  Supervision and/or co-worker assistance are readily available. Attendance is closely monitored, as unscheduled absences may jeopardize meeting customer requirements due to insufficient staffing.   CONSEQUENCES IF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS NOT PERFORMED Failure to follow established safety rules and procedures may result in loss of position or termination of employment. Failure to meet the requirements of the Attendance Policy will result in termination of employment. Failure to observe safety procedures in material handling may result in serious injury up to fatality and/or damage and loss of material or property. Failure to process charts in priority order may result in production or customer delivery delays, which may result in the loss of business. Failure to follow proper operating procedures may result in excess scrap which may in turn result in production delays or customer delivery delays.  This may result in decreased profitability and/or the loss of business. Failure to complete appropriate paperwork may result in inventory shortage through loss of material or improper billing of the customer.
