Manager, Crisis and EmergencyLocated:
PlaqueminesReporting to the Director of Crisis & Emergency Management, the Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) Manager serves as the senior site leader responsible for emergency preparedness, response capability, and operational readiness across their assigned facility.
This role provides leadership for the site’s emergency management program by translating corporate strategy into effective site execution while ensuring operational realities, risks, and lessons learned continuously strengthen Venture Global’s Crisis & Emergency Management Program.
The EP&R Manager partners closely with Site Leadership, Operations, HSSE, Maintenance, and the Contract Fire Department to build and sustain a highly capable emergency response organization that protects people, communities, the environment, assets, and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Management Leadership
- Serve as the site’s primary Emergency Preparedness & Response leader and trusted advisor to Site Leadership.
- Implement corporate Crisis & Emergency Management strategy, standards, and governance at the site level.
- Provide leadership and oversight for site emergency preparedness, response capability, & readiness assurance.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with Site Leadership, Operations, Maintenance, HSSE, mutual aid partners, emergency response agencies, regulators, and local emergency management organizations.
- Represent the site on emergency preparedness initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
Emergency Preparedness & Readiness
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve site emergency response plans and preparedness programs.
- Evaluate emergency readiness through assessments, audits, and performance reviews while driving corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Ensure emergency management programs comply with applicable regulatory, corporate, and management system requirements.
- Lead post-incident and after-action reviews, corrective action programs, and readiness improvement initiatives.
- Identify trends, evaluate program effectiveness, and recommend strategic improvements that strengthen emergency preparedness and response capability.
Incident Support & Coordination
- Provide leadership and coordination during significant incidents by supporting decision-making, resource coordination, communications, escalation, and situational awareness.
Training, Drills & Exercises
- Lead the site’s emergency training, drill, and exercise program to validate response capabilities and strengthen organizational preparedness.
- Ensure lessons learned are incorporated into emergency plans, training programs, and operational practices.
Emergency Response Capability
- Provide operational oversight of the Contract Fire Department, ensuring personnel, equipment, and response capabilities meet Venture Global performance expectations.
- Oversee lifecycle management of emergency response equipment and apparatus, including inspection, testing, maintenance, procurement, and performance evaluation.
- Partner with Site Maintenance to support fire protection systems, fire water infrastructure, and the site’s fire protection impairment program.
Qualifications Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Fire Science, Homeland Security, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting LNG, petrochemical, chemical manufacturing, refining, pipeline, or other high-hazard operations.
- Experience managing emergency response improvement programs, corrective actions, &/or organizational preparedness initiatives.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five or more years of experience in emergency response, emergency management, fire service, industrial safety, EHS, or related experience in a high-hazard industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS/NIMS) and emergency management principles.
- Demonstrated experience leading emergency preparedness, incident response, drills, exercises, or cross-functional emergency management initiatives.
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
