Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers for school-based opportunities in Troutman, North Carolina.

The school is currently seeking qualified educators for two distinct special education positions. One opportunity is a self-contained classroom serving students with significant Autism, while the other is a middle school resource/inclusion position.

These opportunities are ideal for Special Education Teachers who are passionate about providing individualized instruction, implementing IEPs, and creating supportive learning environments tailored to the needs of students with disabilities.

Current Opportunities

Self-Contained Autism Teacher

  • Self-contained special education classroom

  • Supports students with significant Autism

  • Provides individualized and small-group instruction based on student needs

  • Implements IEP goals, accommodations, and specialized instructional strategies

  • Supports students' academic, behavioral, communication, social, and functional development

  • Creates a structured and predictable classroom environment that promotes student success and independence

Middle School Resource/Inclusion Teacher

  • Middle school setting

  • Combination of resource and inclusion services

  • Provides specialized academic support to students within and outside of the general education classroom

  • Collaborates with general education teachers to support access to the curriculum

  • Implements accommodations and modifications outlined in student IEPs

  • Provides individualized and small-group instruction based on student needs

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Provide specialized instruction aligned with student goals and educational needs.

  • Differentiate curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies.

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.

  • Implement positive behavioral and classroom management strategies as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development.

  • Support students in developing academic, behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and functional skills.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Exceptional Children Education, or a related field is a plus

  • Active North Carolina Special Education/Exceptional Children teaching license required or eligibility to obtain.

  • Experience working with students with Autism preferred, particularly in a self-contained setting.

  • Experience with middle school resource or inclusion services is a plus

  • Knowledge of IEP development, differentiated instruction, accommodations, and progress monitoring.

  • Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team.
