General SummaryĀ
Under general supervision, supervises all maintenance and service employees in a division on an assigned shift in the maintenance, repair and cleaning of coaches, buildings and other related equipment.Ā
Duties and ResponsibilitiesĀ
- Supervises the work of maintenance employees engaged in the servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel and/or gasoline powered transportation vehicles.Ā
- Subject to general direction, coordinates and schedules work on a daily basis on an assigned shift.Ā
- Gives instructions relative to work orders and repair work.Ā
- Communicates and coordinates with other supervisory personnel on work processes to ensure continuity.Ā
- Inspects repair work during progress and upon completion.Ā Ā
- Decides upon the necessity for replacement of parts.Ā
- Makes recommendations and enforces Authority safety policies.Ā
- Checks records prepared by subordinates.Ā
- Makes and/or monitors requests for supplies of materials and parts.Ā
- Monitors records of time, materials and parts utilized and makes reports thereon.Ā Inputs and withdraws information from the automated fleet maintenance system.Ā
- Represents the Authority at first step of the grievance procedure.Ā
- Maintains friendly and cooperative relations between employees and management.Ā
- Performs other duties as required.Ā
Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesĀ
- Education equivalent to graduation from a four-year trade or vocational high school.Ā
- Six years experience in repairing and maintaining diesel coaches and gasoline powered automotive equipment.Ā Supervisory experience preferred.Ā
- A valid Michigan Driverās License is required.Ā
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driverās License with proper endorsements within thirty (30) days of appointment.Ā Ā
- Considerable knowledge of the methods of planning and laying out of maintenance work.Ā
- Ability to prepare reports and maintenance records.Ā
- Ability to use a computer terminal.
