Emma Willard School seeks an enthusiastic and dedicated Computer Science Instructor for a teaching position in the 2026-2027 academic school year. Given the late timing of this opening, the position will be re-posted for the 2027-2028 year and beyond; the candidate who steps into the role for the upcoming year will be invited to re-apply if interested in a long-term position.
The instructor should be prepared to teach Computer Science Explorations, Java and two sections of Precalculus or another traditional mathematics course. The ideal candidate will use creative and innovative teaching practices to bring out the best in each student and will collaborate regularly with other members of the Math Department.Â
The Emma Willard faculty use a variety of pedagogical tools and techniques, including but not limited to experiential learning and reflection practices, to help students gain confidence and ownership over their learning. Dedication to the holistic wellness of students is essential, as is comfort in frequent communication with students’ advisors and guardians. Emma Willard School faculty regularly participate in community-wide professional development and each faculty member works with their department chair to develop a plan for their individual professional growth. Faculty are given the opportunity to regularly participate in professional learning through the school’s Center for Teaching and Learning.Â
As a boarding school, Emma Willard asks all teachers to contribute to the overall life of the school. All full-time teachers serve as advisors and support our co-curricular program, which includes activities like advising a student club or coaching a sport.Â
