Overview of Team:

CEO’s Early Head Start/Head Start program creates partnerships and develops opportunities for social and economic growth and empowerment in individuals, families, and communities. We are a federally funded program that provides comprehensive early childhood services to children aged 6 weeks to age 5 and families throughout Rensselaer County.

Position Summary:

CEO is seeking a Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK)/Head Start Teacher to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum to support the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of 3- to 4-year-old children.

Job Description:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Promote children’s development and learning through the application of the Head Start Performance Standards, Early Learning Outcome Framework, and OCFS Day Care regulations. Implement the program curriculum and prepare developmentally appropriate lesson plans. 
  • Use positive guidance strategies to teach, encourage, and redirect behavior utilizing established behavior management policies and procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with staff members, families and children. Create a classroom environment that is welcoming and respects individual differences and diversity, including dual language learners.
  • Enhance the continuation of learning between home and school by conducting two home visits and two parent/teacher conferences each year. Encourage parent participation in classroom and family fun days.

  • Complete all required paperwork including meals counts, attendance, daily health logs, etc. in a timely manner. Complete lesson plans, individualization goals, anecdotal records and assessments, as required.

  • Utilize daily routines such as diapering, toilet training, hand washing, mealtime, transitions and playground time to promote learning and meaningful conversations with young children.

  • Work collaboratively with special service providers and implement goals as written on IEP/IFSP, as applicable.

  •  Maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement concerning confidential information. 

Qualifications:

  • AAS or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education  
  • Previous experience working with children  
  • Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and Office of Children and Family Services Day Care Regulations preferred
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without the need for VISA Sponsorship
