Job Title: Outside Sales Representative 
Region: Southeastern US 
FLSA Status: Exempt 

Position Summary 
Responsible for managing and growing the Southeastern US Region by building awareness of all Har-Tru product segments and services. This role involves identifying and creating opportunities for current and prospective buyers to experience the benefits of Har-Tru products and services. The representative will collaborate with internal employees and Har-Tru Channel Managers to fulfill customer requests, conduct market research, and provide prospective customers and business partners with information. This position acts as a Har-Tru liaison to the tennis teaching and management community. 

Examples of Essential Duties 
Include the following, other duties may be assigned: 

  • Actively develop existing and new account interest by targeting, researching, and qualifying potential customers within targeted markets. 

  • Using a consultative selling process, spend most of the time in the customer’s environment building strong relationships with tennis teaching professionals, analyzing and uncovering their needs, and presenting ways that Har-Tru products and services can help them, and their members play the game of tennis for life. 

  • Qualify, quantify, and prioritize new construction and conversion leads/opportunities so that the best are given the most effort and energy. 

  • Understand the buyer/seller cycles, pricing strategies, and maximize the effectiveness of sales calls while minimizing time with unproductive end-users. Once a new market has become established and sustainable, it may be handed over to another outside sales associate or a regionally focused inside sales associate for maintenance. 

  • Become involved in the local tennis community of target markets, build and leverage relationships with tennis teaching professionals and tennis court builders, and become acquainted with the key influencers at targeted facilities. 

  • Look for and participate in sponsorship opportunities within target markets. 

  • Represent Har-Tru at National Professional Tennis Shows such as the USPTA and PTR as well as regional shows within target markets. Create and present sales presentations and seminars. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Har-Tru Channel Managers and other co-workers. 

  • Effectively communicate with all Har-Tru team members. 

  • Work closely with Har-Tru Wholesale Accounts, Consulting Managers, support staff, and the inside sales team to provide customers with quotes and follow up on work in progress. 

  • Provide customers with up-to-date information on the status of their project. 

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products and services through trade publications, industry associations, and interactions with other sales personnel. 

  • Maintain and exhibit solid selling skills and excellent knowledge of all products currently being sold. 

  • Utilize in-house training programs and outsourced seminars to enhance business, marketing, and selling skills. 

  • Act as an expert resource within the Har-Tru Sports sales team and the industry. 

  • Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of tennis court construction and maintenance and use this knowledge to consult with prospects and customers. 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in business, Marketing Communications, or a related field (years of experience may substitute for formal education). 

  • At least 3 years of experience in tennis teaching, tennis merchandising, or sports construction industry. 

  • A valid driver’s license and safe driving record are required. 

  • Experience in managing expense accounts and travel budgets.
