Unity House of Troy is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to support our legal services team. This position is ideal for an organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about helping individuals navigate the legal system.

The Paralegal will play an integral role in supporting attorneys and clients throughout the legal process by managing case files, preparing legal documents, coordinating court appearances, and providing compassionate support to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage court calendars, hearings, and client appointments.
  • Conduct client intakes and gather information necessary for case preparation.
  • Draft legal documents, correspondence, and court filings.
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of case preparation and litigation support.
  • Coordinate and file legal documents with the appropriate courts and agencies.
  • Transport and accompany clients to and from court appearances, providing support throughout the legal process.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, community partners, and agency staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, belonging, and respect.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal degree or certificate required, or two (2) to four (4) years of experience in a family law or litigation-based legal practice.
  • Experience preparing legal documents and managing case files.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with legal case management software is a plus.
  • Valid New York State Driver License required.
