The impact you’ll make
Your primary responsibility will be to process samples using FEI/Thermo Fisher Helios SEM tools. Sample types will include top‑down and cross‑sectional SEM imaging. Additional responsibilities include imaging AutoTEM‑prepared lamellae using the installed STEM detector on the SEM tool.
What you’ll do
- Follow laboratory methodology for TDSEM/XSEM sample preparation in accordance with quality standards.
- Optimize personal workflows to ensure efficient sample throughput.
- Communicate with lab management to provide work completion time estimates.
- Provide feedback to lab management to support continuous improvement opportunities in laboratory workflows.
- Communicate with team members to ensure alignment on methodologies.
- Protect customer materials and intellectual property at all times.
Who we’re looking for
- 4+ years of experience with a BS degree in a physical science, or a specialized AS degree, or equivalent professional training in materials science and analytical techniques.
- Experience operating single‑beam SEM tools, with a particular focus on the preparation of cleaved cross‑sections for XSEM imaging.
- Knowledge of the physics involved in SEM tools, such as vacuum systems, voltage/current effects, and methods for mitigating charging issues.
- Sample preparation experience using precision cleaving tools is a plus.
- Comfortable working a night‑shift compressed schedule.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with key developments and materials in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Experience creating and presenting technical documentation.
- Experience in customer IP protection and proper sample handling is a plus.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
