What You'll do

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized environment across Flexible Metal's office building, shop floor, and building grounds. This role plays a critical part in supporting a professional, and orderly facility for employees and visitors. This role may also support the production team as needed.

Office Cleaning

Clean and sanitize two (2) men's restrooms and two (2) women's restrooms, including restocking supplies
Deep clean and sanitize the breakroom and office kitchenette(s), including countertops, floors, sinks, cupboards, visible and non-visible areas alike
Clean appliances including refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, air fryer
Maintain a clean sink/dish area
Vacuum offices and common areas & wipe down desks
Dry-mop hard floor surfaces

Dust/ wipe down all areas that become unclean
Empty all trash & replace liners
Organize common areas and storage/supply closets as needed

Grounds Maintenance

Operate a riding lawnmower to maintain small patio/grass areas approximately once every two weeks
Pick up litter/debris from building exterior and parking areas
Operate a leaf blower to clear entrances, and patio areas
Report any landscaping or grounds hazards (uneven pavement, drainage issues, etc.) to Plant Manager

Warehouse Support

Keep aisles, walkways, and emergency paths clear of obstructions
Assist with general cleanup projects in the warehouse as assigned
Support shop supervisors with periodic deep-cleaning or organization initiatives

General

Report maintenance issues (leaks, broken fixtures, burnt-out lighting, equipment malfunctions) to Plant Manager
Maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed
Perform other duties as assigned, including supporting the production team as needed.

What You'll Bring

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; not required
Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not required
Ability to safely operate a lawnmower and leaf blower (training provided if needed)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Skills: time management, attention to detail, and basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemical safety

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and twist
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds
Ability to operate a lawnmower and leaf blower, including associated vibration and repetitive motion
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and hearing protection, in areas where required.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
