Position:                       Security Manager

Department:                 Security

 

Job Summary:             

Assists with the overall day-to-day operations, financial performance, development, and operations of the Security Department, in alignment with the goals and objectives of Casino Del Sol properties and in full accord with all operational and regulatory policies and procedure. Ensures maximum guest service and day-to-day management of departmental operations and staff. Responsible for the protection and safety of all CDS property assets, guests, and team members.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

  • Assists with general management of Security operations.
  • Ensures optimal operational efficiency with continual contact and walk-through observation of all areas of responsibility.
  • Assists in setting priorities for management staff and provides guidance as needed.
  • Reviews and evaluates departmental performance on a regular basis. Works through management staff to take appropriate steps to resolve unsatisfactory results or conditions.
  • Listens to, evaluates, and assumes control of guest problems and settles the same without delay in collaboration with the Department’s Management staff, where appropriate.
  • Handles team member-related matters referred by the Department’s management staff ensuring team members are treated and dealt with in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Assists in making recommendations and suggestions to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, discharge, evaluate, assign, and discipline department team members.
  • Reviews financial statements and budgets; gives input and ideas on how to cut costs in all areas of the department.
  • Assists in formulating and administering departmental policies and activities and develops realistic short- and long-term goals and objectives for the Department in alignment with those of Casino Del Sol Resort.
  • Confers with department head to review achievements and discuss needed changes in goals or objectives resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.
  • Conducts constant monitoring of internal affairs including scheduling, enforcement of policy, training, and communication among and between all three shifts.
  • Assists supervisor in monitoring established cost-containment/budgetary controls.
  • Promotes open lines of communication with other departments that directly affect the Security Department; serves as a liaison for the Security Department.
  • Develops and participates in special projects as requested or assigned.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Essential functions of the position:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and transport materials and/or equipment on a frequent basis up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach, pull, kneel, squat, twist, and bend for duties.
  • Must be able to travel to other CDS properties, or any other events necessary for this specific role.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.
  • Must have computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests and team members in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must be able to work in environments with high noise levels, flashing lights, smoking areas, and large crowds.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by two-way radio, telephone, and written correspondence.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the State gaming compact as well as applicable gaming laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, including Casino Del Sol internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Security operations.
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of finance and human resources applications.
  • Demonstrated understanding of business flow and volume
  • Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to respond to internal and external inquiries or complaints ranging from guests to regulatory agency representatives.
  • Ability to effectively present information to constituencies ranging from executive management to governmental agency representatives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to develop team members.
  • Ability to perform duties with reliability, responsiveness, and creativity.
  • Ability to provide positive leadership and exceptional service and quality.

  • Ability to perform mathematical computations pertaining to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school or General Equivalency Diploma AND four (4) years progressively responsible Security management experience, including two (2) years supervisory experience OR a minimum of ten (10) years Security supervisory experience in a Tribal Gaming environment.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events, as needed.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must be able to obtain, and retain a valid gaming license/background check.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Experience in an Indian gaming environment.
