Responsible for designing, developing and maintaining cloud infrastructure and data platforms; delivering target-state core platform architecture; leading cloud and infrastructure security initiatives; establishing infrastructure as code and configuration standards and designing and maintaining reliability targets. Partners cross functionally to execute platform strategies and enforce security policies and cloud governance guardrails. Leads a cross functional team and maintains departmental budgets.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop and maintain cloud infrastructure and data platforms including network, compute, storage, data ingestion, analytics and governance to ensure high performance, resiliency (backup/restore), cost efficiency, compliance and scalable data products.
  • Deliver target-state core platform architecture encompassing landing zone, identity, network, compute, storage, and containers with a security by design approach; lead cloud and infrastructure security initiatives such as IAM, segmentation, vulnerability management, encryption and baselines to support HIPAA/HITRUST and SOC 2.
  • Establish infrastructure as code (Terraform/Bicep) and configuration standards integrated with CI/CD; deliver reusable platform services such as standard environments, secrets management, and observability through tooling, templates, and documented patterns.
  • Define and maintain reliability targets (SLIs/SLOs), and lead incident, problem, and change management along with platform support (runbooks, on-call, escalation), driving root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with compliance, software, and data architects to execute platform strategy and enforce security policies and cloud governance guardrails; deliver standardized self-service Azure capabilities aligned to business goals.
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team spanning infrastructure, DevOps and release, software engineering, data engineering, and security. 
  • Develop, plan and manage departmental budget, including FinOps, capacity planning, cost optimization and vendor management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability to build, mentor, and develop high-performing, cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation.
  • Ability to balance platform standardization and governance with the evolving needs of delivery teams.
  • Successful completion of Health Care Sanctions background check.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in infrastructure and platform engineering with prior leadership experience in healthcare or other regulated environments.
  • Prior experience achieving and maintaining SOC 2 Type II controls.
  • Demonstrated experience with Azure platform engineering for regulated workloads, including landing zone, identity, networking, policy, governance, and HA/DR patterns.
  • Prior experience applying HIPAA/HITRUST controls to cloud platforms and operations.
