Job Title – Lab Receiving Technician
Department – Tracer Diagnostics
Reports to – Laboratory Supervisor or Director
Job Summary
The Laboratory Receiving Technician is primarily responsible for coordinating and overseeing sample receipt and entry into LIMS. They coordinate with various external stakeholders in Operations, Account Manager and Engineering Technical Advisors to anticipate sample shipments and organize samples into wells and projects. They will maintain the laboratory sample warehouse and assist with same preparation in coordination with the Laboratory Technician staff.Â
Key areas of responsibility
- Receive samples (oil, gas, water) for analysis
- Log samples into LIMS and create batches of samples for analysis
- Prepare selected samples for instrumental analysis by following established methods and procedures
- Track samples received against plan; communicate with stakeholders to resolve any discrepancies
- Organize samples in laboratory warehouse
- Store samples after analysis
- Clear-out inventory of samples after storage date has passed
- Assist with laboratory supply organization/orderingÂ
- Follows and ensures strict safety processes and safety checks
- Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer
- Align individual goals with NCS’s corporate goals, while adhering to the NCS Promise
- Participate in Personal Development for Success (PDS)
- Other duties, relevant to the position, shall be assigned as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Education/experience
- Canada: Chemical Laboratory Technology Diploma and/or min 2 years of lab experience
- US: High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred; experience in laboratory setting preferred
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic, fast paced environment
- High level of efficiency and work ethic, strong interpersonal/communication skills
- Shows initiative, enthusiasm and attention to detail in all assignments
- Ability to work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum, petrochemicals and laboratory chemicals without allergic reaction or nausea
- Ability to stand, bend and sit for extended time periods
- Ability to work in climate and non-climate-controlled area (95% climate, 5% non-climate)
- Ability to move or lift 25 lbs

- Travel: Less than 5% domestic travel may be required
