Job Title: Production Supervisor

Department: Machinery

Reports To: Plant Manager

 

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Production Supervisor is responsible for all plant operations including pre-and post-production related activities, employee training, employee appraisals, scheduling, and implementing policies and procedures. The Production Supervisor initiates plans and processes, which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital. The Production Supervisor

assures attainment of production objectives and schedules while maintaining product standards that will exceed our customers’ expectations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs and manages plant operations for production, scheduling, maintenance, quality control, shipping, and receiving to ensure the most effective return on assets.
  • Coordinates plant activities through the planning with departmental supervisors to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Controls and minimizes labor overtime, premium freight costs, and repair expenses.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Provides direction, development, and leadership to production supervisors.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Proven track record of academic and professional excellence.
  • Strong PC skills and the ability to navigate within the Pregis’ systems are critical.
  • Working knowledge of relevant software such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. SAP experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to understand and accurately apply basic math skills.
  • Understanding of internal controls.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and organize, good time management skills.
  • Ability to retain information (e.g., policies, procedures) or find it as needed.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Ability to operate under pressure of deadlines.
  • Cooperative, team oriented, patient, calm under pressure, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to function in fast-paced environment

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelors’ Degree in Business Preferred. Minimum of Associates Degree from a two-year college or technical school, or 3-5 years of experience in Production or Manufacturing Supervision, or equivalent combination of education and experience
